After sharing one of our favorite Keto Brownies recipe I realized that there are definite times when a frosted brownie is ESSENTIAL.

We’ve got some delicious low carb and keto frosting with all the chocolately deliciousness you have been craving.

Now we could of easily used butter but decided that there was an avocado getting ripe on the counter so lets add some of that fatty goodness to the mix!

HOW MANY NET CARBS ARE IN OUR LOW CARB CHOCOLATE FROSTING

This one is a little tricky. So it really depends on how you want to calculate this. As we’ve explained in our What are Net Carbs post some people decide to count the sugar alcohols by subtracting the sugar alcohols from the carbs and some do not. There are 288 grams of sugar alcohol if you end up using the sweetener we list in the recipe card.

So if you decide to subtract the sugar alcohols from your carbs (our family does) there is 22 Net Carbs for the entire 2 cups of chocolate frosting.

This recipe would be enough to frost an entire low carb cakeÂor 12 low carb cupcakes if you so wished. So you aren’t eating the entire 310 grams either way. . .ÂThat is 2.75 Net Carbs for about 4 Tablespoons of frosting.

How to get perfect creamy low carb chocolate frosting

I was given this tip a while back and it might be one of the best tips I’ve ever received from a professional baker.

In order to get smooth and creamy frosting you have to whip it foreverrrr. If you have a stand mixer this is when they are totally worth the money. Once you get your frosting put together and the right consistency, keep your mixer on low and allow to run for 3-4 minutes.

And THAT is how you get the most perfect low carb frosting guys.

Now What to Use this Chocolate frosting On?

  • The Best Keto Brownies – Because frosted brownies are da bombbbbb
  • Low Carb Chocolate Cupcakes – these are perfect for the halloween season coming up!
  • Low Carb Brownies – because we always need more brownies 😉
  • Low Carb Brownie Cinnamon Cake – I think we love brownies.
  • Low Carb Chocolate Mug Cake

I think the confusion may be that you say “1 avocado” in the ingredient list, but then say “avocados” (plural) in the instructions.

I don’t know where you get that this is low carb at 310 grams. That is almost 21 carbs, much more than any diabetic can eat in one day, let alone for dessert! According to your numbers that is 103% of what a person on a 2000 calorie diet can have per day. How on Earth did you get low carb? I am very disappointed!

I’m sorry you are disappointed! Lets talk this out and perhaps you and others can understand when I created this recipe.

Using swerve powdered sweetener (and following the nutritional info on that bag) this recipe makes about 2 cups of frosting. This would be enough to frost an entire cake if you so wished. So you aren’t eating the entire 310 grams either way. . . Just so for ease of reading I included the entire recipe in the nutritional information. As always we do our best to provide the nutritional info as a courtesy and while we can make mistakes I did just doubled checked it to be sure.

NOW onto the actual carbs portion. My family takes the sugar alcohols (288grams for this recipe) and minus from the carbs as for our family those sugar alcohols don’t spike our insulin. Now I know not everyone can do this as it does effect and spike insulin on others but us it does not.

So when it is all said and done there is actually 22 Net Carbs for the entire recipe and lets say you sliced the frosted cake into 8 slices – That is a 2.75 Carbs for about 4 Tablespoons of frosting on a cake.

Now I totally understand if you decide to not subtract sugar alcohols if it does spike your insulin and if thats the case then yes this recipe would not be a good fit and I hope you can find that there are many other recipes on the site that should be a good fit. Cheers!

The carb count is for the whole recipe…..2 CUPS of frosting! You have to read the complete nutrional label to read the serving size.

Great recipe by the way, for those of us (Diabetics) that crave a good piece of cake with icing on top every once in a while. This will be my go to recipe for birthday cakes since hubby was recently diagnosed as a Diabetic as well.

This tastes 100% like real chocolate frosting. I love that I could use an avocado which makes it healthier. It looks great and tastes great! The only thing for me is thst it may be a little too sweet. I am going to try making it again with 1.5 cups of Swerve. 2 cups may be too much for me.
